Clouds are finally away

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

For some days we had a lot of clouds in the south of the Baja Peninsula, from San Pedro to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Most of this days we there was a little bit of rain which was good because you can see the mountains and the roads turning green, something pretty awesome for the Baja since we are a desert.

Today is finally one of those sunny days here in Cabo San Lucas, there are a lot of people spending their summer’s vacations here, the weather is perfect and the only thing left for us is to enjoy the beautiful Baja.

Vista Coral in La Paz

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Vista CoralRight where the Malecon of La Paz begins there is a place called Vista Coral where you can enjoy a great meal or actually live.

Vista Coral has beautiful condos and a great ocean pool, but is a crowded place not because of this but because it has great restaurants / coffee shops. These restaurants /coffee shops enjoy a fantastic view of the La Paz’s bay.

There are two popular places in Vista Coral, the first one is “El capri” which is mostly a coffe shop but you can also have a good meal there, it has a nice environment with tables inside of it and also outside with view to the bay, on weekends in the afternoon and at night they have live music, piano, acoustic guitar or even both, ballads and classics make a romantic atmosphere for everyone there, most of the music is from Mexico.

Next to “El capri” is a great restaurant called “La divina uva”, this restaurant is one of the best in La Paz, with a good variety of food and great service plus the incredible view of the La Paz’s bay and the relaxed environment. Lots of travelers come here for a nice meal.

In the future I will write a little bit more of this two great spots of La Paz and I will include pictures of each one, meanwhile if you come to La Paz don’t forget to visit Vista Coral and enjoy a great time with an amazing view.

A little park in La Paz

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

La Paz\'s parkIn the downtown of La Paz, right in front of the cathedral there is this little park which is very traditional in the city.

This park have lots of benchs, a fountain and a kiosk and is a popular place where the locals meet to talk, to play on sunday a mexican game called “la loteria”, kids are always running and playing around here, people selling ice cream and fruits, well this park is really a picture of traditions in Mexico.

It is right in the heart of La Paz, the building behind it used to be the municipality, nowadays is the Instituto Sudcaliforniano de la Juventud (the goverment’s institute for the youth), kids take lessons, music lessons and artistic lessons.

This park really is a place where people in La Paz like to spend some time, when you come to La Paz, come to this park, enjoy an ice cream under the shadow of a tree, relax yourself and enjoy this side of Baja.

Coromuel Beach in La Paz

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Coromuel BeachThe closest beach to the city of La Paz (besides the Malecon) is the Coromuel beach or “el coromuel” as is known by the locals, this beach is a very easy going but crowded one in La Paz, it has a restaurant where you can eat, buy some drinks and rent a palapa.

With it’s white sand this beach is perfect for some soccer and volley ball, this beach also have a great parking lot so you won’t have to worry about this subject.

The water is perfect, is so calm it’s almost like a pool, is not very deep so is safe to swim for kids, you can see some colored fishes here. El Coromuel is visited mostly by local people and on weekends it gets really crowded but you can have some really good time here. When you come to La Paz and you want to hit a great beach without driving more than 5 minutes visit the Coromuel beach.
