Mexico began it’s independece fight on September the 16 of 1810 and each September the streets of all the country are dressed with the colors of the flag.

In San Jose del Cabo the kiosk and the local park presents mexican music every weekend, now more than ever we have mariachis and great performers in there, the look and feel of everything here smells like Mexico. If you want to experience or to feel the whole mexican experience September is a great opportunity for it.

The best part of the celebration takes place the night of the 15th when the local president, governor and even the president of Mexico scream to the people waiting outside Viva Mexico like the father of this nation did 196 years ago.

This hurricane really was unpredictable, first it was going to hit between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, then it turns out to the pacific side, then it turns in direction of San Jose del Cabo, finally it went to the sea of Cortez and finally it hit Baja on the Eastcape, on Los Barriles.

Los Barriles is a small population, it has a few (but very good) inns, a lot of fishermen and great beaches and beauty in Baja style, a lot of palapas, palm trees and houses were moved by the powerful hurricane, a lot of palm trees were taken out of the ground from its roots, but no human lives were lost.

Natural rivers grown, and for some time the roads between cities were impossible to use, populations on the eastcape and La Paz lost electricity, phones and water. The hurricane still alive hit La Paz and more populations of the north of the state with less strength but still powerful winds.

In a short time most populations (except Los Barriles) got the services back, the internet was the last thing we got (yesterday at night) and everything at least in La Paz, Todos Santos, Pescadero, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are back to normal, and the government is implementing an emergency plan in Los Barriles. For the experience people here have seems like there’s nothing to be sorry about (human lives) anyway the damages to properties specially in Los Barriles are high, specially since a lot of constructions there has palm tree roofs.

Almost all nights they have live music from a single guy playing piano to a couple of guys playing percusions to a group playing smooth music.

The staff speaks english, the prices are low and the food is good, it’s located near the main road in San Jose del Cabo, around a Bank, to get here probably your best option is to ask the locals about it’s location everyone in San Jose knows the Hangman restaurant by it’s name in spanish (El ahorcado).

For some days we had a lot of clouds in the south of the Baja Peninsula, from San Pedro to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Most of this days we there was a little bit of rain which was good because you can see the mountains and the roads turning green, something pretty awesome for the Baja since we are a desert.

Today is finally one of those sunny days here in Cabo San Lucas, there are a lot of people spending their summer’s vacations here, the weather is perfect and the only thing left for us is to enjoy the beautiful Baja.

Most people think in Cabo San Lucas as the land’s end, in Cabo San Lucas you will find a place called Finisterra (actually there’s a hotel in there named Finisterra), but to be totally honest Cabo San Lucas is not the Land’s End.

The real land’s end is in a place called Cabo False (the false cape) which is the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula; this cape divides the sea of cortez and the pacific ocean. If you could go straight from this point to the south you won’t find land at all until you hit the Antarctic continent.

In Cabo Falso you will find amazing views, white sand dunes and a landmark in Baja, “el Faro Viejo” (the old lighthouse), I will write about this in another post because it really has an interesting history. When you come to Cabo make sure you visit the real Land’s End at Cabo Falso, by the way this is the place where the movie Troy was filmed (I just had to say it).

Hello everyone, this time I wanted to write about my favorite seafood restaurant in Cabo San Lucas, “mariscos Mazatlan”, it’s definitely the best seafood restaurant in Los Cabos, when you first get to the local well it doesn’t look as “nice” as the other restaurants in Cabo, it’s a very simple restaurant with regular tables and chairs, fans on the ceiling but still you will not feel uncomfortable with the weather since is not hot inside of the restaurant, the restaurant is located in the downtown of Cabo San Lucas behind the Dollar Rent a Car office.

At this point you might be wondering so why is this your favorite restaurant, well in the moment you sit on you chair you have a waiter giving you a tuna dip and the menu, your beverage is delivered really fast and so your food, in one sentence the service is amazing one of the best (or the best) of Los Cabos, the food is delicious, very good portions and there are always some music groups in there playing good songs. So mariscos Mazatlan is my favorite seafood restaurant in Cabo San Lucas because it’s great food and the amazing service, if you come to Cabo San Lucas try this restaurant, in fact you might meet me there =)

Justo al Gusto is my favorite restaurant in Los Cabos, is located behind the hotel El tesoro in Cabo San Lucas, on the marina side, it offers Mexican food, I specially enjoy eating a Cazuela or Molcajete wich have meat, chicken, and well… it is something you definitely you have to try.

The enviroment is great kind of romantic in the night, the music is smooth with ballads in Spanish and English (mostly in Spanish) and almost every night there’s a musician playing sweet music. The deserts are great and some of them are prepared next to your table so you can see the process.

The view to the marina draws beautiful sunsets for you, the price is not to expensive for Cabo and the service is really great, everyone treats you so good and they speak very good english so you won’t have any problems, when you come to Los Cabos make sure you visit this great restaurant, Justo al Gusto my absolutely favorite restaurant in Los Cabos.
